The Yeomen of the Guard
Weds 25th – Sat 28th July
No performance on Fri 27 July
Ticket Prices - Midweek - £22
Saturday - £24
Perfect for a Hever setting, as well as a royal celebration year, The Yeomen of the Guard is set in the reign of King Henry VIII and tells the story of the events in the life of Colonel Fairfax during the last days of his imprisonment in the Tower.
The Yeomen of the Guard, or the Merryman and his Maid was Gilbert and Sullivan's 11th collaboration, and the nearest they came to creating a 'Grand Opera'. It is the only one of their joint works to eschew satire, and Sullivan was delighted with Gilbert's plot, writing in his diary:
"No topsy-turveydom, very human, and funny also."

Following the success of Rigoletto, Adam Miller and Bernie Lafontaine have teamed up again to create a fantastic new English translation, delivering the poetry and wit that has made La bohème an audience favourite for years.
Opera Novella brings together multi-award-winning principal singers in full costume, and accompanied by a six piece chamber orchestra to sing Puccini's classic masterpiece. Musical Director, Bernie Lafontaine, custom-arranges the full orchestral score for his ensemble, capturing all the rich textures of the orchestra, and delivering an authentic opera experience.
"Everyone in our group thought that Rigoletto (performed by Opera Novella in 2011) was one of the best opera productions we had seen - ever! (And that includes Glyndebourne and Covent Garden!!) Thank you!"Audience email 2011
