The Hollow Crown
Hever Festival Productions
Saturday 2nd June
Ticket Price - £20
A celebratory entertainment devised by John Barton
A special one off performance to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. A unique entertainment composed of the letters, speeches, poems, songs and music by and about the kings and queens of England, originally devised for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Four actors and a musician perform the piece which sparkles with the wit of several centuries and demonstrates the vulnerable humanity of those who have worn the crown. These are not the Kings and Queens to be met with in history books but the living, breathing men and women who have played out their lives on the stage of England's court.

Set in a circus ring, this adaptation brings Dahl's ideas to life and has the confidence to add something new. Bored with playing silly tricks on one another, the grotesque, satisfyingly revolting couple, Mr & Mrs Twit, turn their attentions to capturing and training a family of monkeys, the Muggle-wumps, for a circus act. The monkey's cruel incarceration in a cage is avenged when the Birds, led by the Roly-Poly Bird, trick the Twits into believing the world has turned up-side-down. (The audience helps in the trick by pretending to be up-side-down!.)
"Roald Dahl created some truly revolting characters in his time, but surely few can compare with the noxiousness of Mr & Mrs Twit. This adaptation by David Wood was easily as gruesomely grotesque as Dahl could ever have intended. The show is a marvellous mix of singing, dancing, theatre, slapstick and audience participation."

Inspired by the uncomplicated innocence of Angela Brazil's schoolgirl novels, Denise Deegan's comedy brilliantly parodies the life and soul of a gels' boarding school of yesteryear' - all gym slips and hockey sticks, a sort of St Trinians without the delinquency! The plucky heroine, Daisy Meredith, with the help of her best friend, the zany Trixie Martin, overcomes a series of trials and tribulations by being honourable and straight in all things, even saving the lives of sneaky Monica and toady Sybil - her arch-enemies.
The original and hugely successful West End Production of Daisy Pulls it Off was presented by the Really Useful Theatre Company Ltd in 1983 at The Gielgud Theatre.
"...perfectly ripping, absolutely spiffing, not to mention 'scrummy' entertainment..." Sunday Express

The Owl and the Pussycat
Weds 15th - Sat 18th August
Matinee Performance Thurs 16th August
Ticket Prices - Midweek - £16
Saturday - £20
Matinee - £14
The title might suggest another children's play, but rest assured this play is most definitely for grown-ups! Set in San Francisco, the play centres around two flawed but very human characters, Doris has aspirations to be an actress and model, but in reality is a part-time hooker. Felix suffers from similar delusions - that he is an intellectual and talented writer, whilst working as a clerk in a book store whose writings are continuously rejected by the publishers.
The pair meet in the most unpromising of circumstances - he is responsible for her eviction from her apartment - but unexpectedly fall in love. There follows a tempestuous relationship that is presented though a series of explosively funny, sometimes farcical encounters as they play out their on-off romance.
The play enjoyed a very successful run on Broadway and was subsequently made into a film with George Segal and Barbra Streisand.

Lord Chamberlain's Men Present
Macbeth
Weds 22nd August
Ticket Prices - £17.50
The Lord Chamberlain's Men, who take their name from Shakespeare's own touring company, have gained a reputation for original, exciting and entertaining productions performed upon the same principles that Shakespeare himself championed. Most notably the play is performed by an all-male cast.
Macbeth is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy and in essence a political thriller that resonates with modern audiences all too familiar with the machinations and self-serving actions of politicians and their wives!.
Blood, battles, weird sisters – it can only be one play, Macbeth
"Open air theatre as it should be and at its very, very best" BBC
